Technology & Connectivity

  • Can I get online while I’m visiting Guana?
    Yes. You can connect your laptop in your room or on your terrace or in any of the public spaces for free. Guests are also welcome to use the Guest Office computer.
  • Will there be a phone or a TV in my room?
    A visit to Guana is meant to be a haven from modern life where you can escape work, phones, newspapers and television. So while we’ve joined the 21st century in terms of free, unlimited Wi-Fi, we still don’t have phones or TVs in our Sea View Rooms. However, our villas are outfitted with fully loaded digital entertainment systems.
  • What do I need to bring in terms of electrical adaptors and converters?
    Electricity on Guana is standard U.S. 110 volt, 60 cycle AC from Guana’s own generators.

Things to Do

You can do as little or as much as you like during your stay on Guana. Most activities are included in your room rate; please see “Opxional Activities” below for those that are not.

  • Which activities are included in my room rate?
    Our guests can enjoy Sunfish sailboats, kayaks, pedal boats, hiking trails, croquet, Ping-Pong, snorkeling, fishing equipment and more. When you arrive in Guana you will receive a folder containing a map of the island and detailed information about all of the activities Guana has to offer.
  • Is tennis included in my room rate?
    Yes. In fact, we have the only Hydro tennis court (plays like clay) in the BVI plus an Omni tennis court (Astroturf and special sand).
  • What are the optional activities I can take advantage of? (For an additional charge.)
    If you’re in the mood for activity, you can hop on a motorboat, take a day trip to surrounding islands, go waterskiing, deep-sea fishing or scuba diving. Yoga and tennis lessons are also available as are massages and special body treatments.
  • How’s the snorkeling and scuba diving?
    You can swim, boat or kayak to some of the finest snorkeling and diving anywhere in the world on Guana.
  • Does the island have a pool?
    The island’s four villas and one of the Sea View Rooms have private pools for the use of their guests only. There are no other pools on the island.
  • Can we take day trips to other islands?
    Yes! Favorite destinations are the Caves and Pirates Bight at Norman Island, Foxy’s at Jost Van Dyke, the Baths at Virgin Gorda, the beaches of Anegada.

Accommodations

  • Are there villas on the beach?
    North Beach Villa is the only beach house on the island and it sits alone and secluded on North Beach. Other accommodations are scattered along a scenic ridge and all have amazing views of the water.
  • What amenities do your villas offer?
    All villas have a private, designer infinity pools, golf carts, and minibars.
  • Are your Sea View Rooms private?
    Yes, our Sea View Rooms and villas are blissfully private, with their own entrances and terraces.
  • Where does your water supply come from?
    The water on Guana is potable and comes from our desalination plant.

Available Services

  • Do you offer laundry service?
    We are happy to offer limited wash and fold laundry service at no charge.

Emergencies

  • What type of medical care is available on Guana?
    Guana enjoys a special relationship with private physicians on Torotla to assure prompt care in the event of an emergency. Special and emergency services are available at nearby Peebles Hospital on Tortola.  If necessary, medical air evacuation services to San Juan or the mainland United States can be arranged.

Dining

  • What is the food like on Guana?
    You will enjoy a delightful combination of American, Continental, and Caribbean cuisine, prepared from local seafood and organic, Island-grown produce and the finest imported meats, fowl, and cheese. Guana also has special vegetarian menus and can accommodate any special dietary restrictions or requests. For our younger guests, there are customizable kids menus. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style and dinner is a three- or four-course meal with alternate main course selections. Upon request, we can arrange for a beach lunch or a Castaway Picnic.
  • Can you accommodate special dietary requests?
    Absolutely. Our chefs are happy to prepare meals that meet our guests’ individual dietary needs.
  • Is private dining available?
    Yes. Upon request, we can arrange for dining in the Garden of Eden or the privacy of your room.
  • What about snacks and drinks during the day?
    Snacks are mandatory on Guana! Each afternoon, coffee, tea, home-baked cookies, fruit, crudités and other refreshments are offered at The Club and at the Beach Bar on White Bay Beach. Or stop by our organic orchard for a freshly cut coconut and fruits.Water and other beverages are available all day long at The Club and the honor bar on White Bay Beach. Complimentary portable water bottles are available and guests are encouraged to help themselves to our delicious tap water.

Special Events

  • Can we rent the island?
    Yes! Full island rentals that can accommodate up to 42 guests are an extraordinary way to mark a special event, such as a wedding, landmark birthday or anniversary, business gathering or family reunion.

Lifestyle

  • Do I need to dress up for meals?
    We ask that guests wear a cover-up over their bathing suit at breakfast and lunch. In the evenings, we like to dress up a little more. For men, slacks and sport shirts work just fine. For women, dresses, skirts or pants are all great.
  • Do you encourage families with children to visit Guana?
    Many of our adult guests first visited Guana Island as children and they return year after year because they love the lifestyle. However, during certain times, particularly during school holidays and summer vacation, we need to balance the exuberance of our younger visitors with the need of other guests to have a relaxing vacation.   • Do you have small children?
    If so, you might consider visiting Guana Island during our annual Kid’s Week.If you would prefer to visit Guana when there are no children on the island, please inform us when you book your reservation.

Rates, Tipping & Currency

  • What do your daily rates include?
    Rates cover almost everything, including:

    • Three meals a day, plus wines at lunch and dinner
    • Afternoon refreshments
    • All on-island activities
    • Wi-Fi
    • And for visits lasting longer than 3 days, daily rates include round-trip taxi fares and boat transfers from Beef Island Airport.

    Rates do not include:

    • Opxional activities.
    • 18% tax and resort fee
    • Taxi and boat transfers from Beef Island airport
  • Is tipping required?
    We take great pride in the impeccable and unobtrusive service we provide on Guana. However, the 18% tax and resort fee that will be added to your bill covers all gratuities during your stay. Of course, additional tipping is accepxed.
  • What currency is used on Guana?
    Currency in all of the BVI is the U.S. dollar.

Guana Beaches

  • How many beaches are there on Guana Island?
    Guana’s White Bay Beach, with its half-mile stretch of pure white coral sand, has been called the finest beach in the BVI. However, when you’re in the mood to be all by yourself, there are 6 other beaches on Guana to choose from. All Guana beaches are accessible by hike or by boat. All of them are the perfect place for a very private Castaway Picnic.

Arriving in Guana

  • Do I need to let you know when I’m arriving?
    Yes, please inform our reservations office of your airline, flight number and arrival time at Beef Island Airport. Please see Getting to Guana for more information.
  • What are your check-in and check-out times?
    Formal check-in time is 2 pm and check-out time is at 12 noon. Of course, you are welcome to enjoy our facilities if you arrive earlier or leave later in the day.
  • Do I need to bring proof of citizenship?
    Yes, please bring a valid passport for British Virgin Islands Customs and Immigration.
